Afar region is endowed with a variety of construction, industrial and metallic mineral resources. Among the industrial minerals potash (160 million tons), bentonite, sulphur, salt (29million tons) and gypsum occur in different zones of the region. Construction raw materials exist in various parts of the region. The principal varieties of the construction raw materials include: ignimbrite, pumice, scoracious basalt &basalt and recent quaternary sediments....
The region installed 33,000KV for the towns samara- Logia, Mile, Aysaita, Dubti, and Dicheto, this increased the electricity accessing Woredas from17 to 24, which is 75% of the total population (EEA,2021).
The Awash River, Mille, and Logia which are tributaries of the Awash River traverse the region. Abbe Bil, Afambo, and Adebel lakes which are connected to the last section of the river Awash are found in the region. The major source of potable water in the region was obtained from 83 deep wells, 671 normal pups, 66 springs, 126 shallow wells, and 362 protected spring water. Access to water coverage is estimated to be 58.41 % (57.13 % and 63.42 %) in rural and urban respectively (NBE,2021). .
All towns of the region and rural villages of the region have access to mobile network services. The Ethiopian Postal Services Enterprise provides postal services in 15 locations in the region. The region has built 94 mobile and 34 CDMA networking stations. This has made 29 of the Woredas reachable in mobile networking and the total coverage has increased to 92%. About 252(65%) of the rural kebeles have got access to wireless telephone service. The region has made 22 wordas and towns beneficiaries of regular telephone service, 13 towns of V-sat telephone service, and all 32 Woredas (100%) of a broadband network service..
